Below are some of the key information, facts and activities that should guide the framework for your seminar. You do not need to present the information (below) as a lot of up-front content--your role is only to guide your peers to discovery and understanding through their own research of these topics.
I've included some activities for you to consider in your seminar--this aspect is up to you, so feel free to be creative and have fun with the learning experience (**refers to suggested activities). I do expect that your peers write one blog piece (on their personal website) about a topic, essential question, video, image, reading, etc...

Suggested Content & Possible Activities
Follow up the analysis of the women’s movement with a discussion about what issues of oppression and inequality girls and women deal with today. What should the present-day feminist movement be focused on achieving/ changing? What is the role of men in the feminist movement?
Provide information and reading material about Third Wave Feminism. Introduce the concepts of “girl power” and the Riot Grrls.
**Have your peers research feminist groups today by exploring web sites, online magazines and discussion groups, and print media that address issues for female youth and women today. Allow them the opportunity to present their findings in an oral or multimedia presentation. Your peers should have an understanding of the background of the group/organization, the main goals, the message, and the strategies it uses to create change
The presentations could focus on the quality of information, relevance to the feminist movement today, and personal connection to the information. Why is it important or interesting to your peer?

1. Discuss your connection to the feminist movement today. Do you identify yourself as a feminist?
2. Which feminist groups would you align yourself with? What are the benefits of connecting with such a group?
3. How the did the women’s liberation movement improve the lives of women in the 1970s?
4. How has the women’s movement shaped the lives of women living today?
6. Do you think men and boys should care about the women’s movement? Why or why not?
7. Does sexism affect your life today? If so, how?
8. How has gender stereotyping affected you? Have you ever experienced oppression or discrimination based on your gender? If yes, describe.
9. How are messages about beauty communicated to girls and women today? How are you affected by the media’s portrayal of beauty?
**Creative Response: You could provide your peers with lists of feminist movies, books, and artists. Have them view, read, or research an artist to gain an understanding of how the arts can be used to overcome oppression and the role of the arts in the feminist movement.
